iDealTek - Electronics was founded in May 2015 by a team composed of sales and technical personnels. The words below describe the path the company has gone through from the beginning to the development up to now, as well as the major choices on the technology and market development route.
iDealTek - Electronics was founded in May 2015 by a team composed of sales and technical personnel. Before founding iDealTek - Electronics, the team members worked in a company called "SHEKONIC" and were engaged in design, production and market operation of various customized power supplies for 9 years. During this period, the team members accumulated rich experience in various power supplies topology design by engaging in developing and manufacturing of thyristor-based SCR power supplies; transistor-based & triode-based linear power supplies, and transistor-based switching power supplies.
At the same time, due to the design and optimization of a variety of customized power supplies, a deep and specific understanding of the characteristics of power supplies in different application fields was received.
During this period with SHEKONIC, the company's power products seemed to be the mainstream products in the market, but with the increase in sales, the company's internal management redundancy and bureaucracy led to the stagnation of technological innovation. In the last 5 years of SHEKONIC (after 2009), with the gradual use of switching magnetic components like IGBTs and MOSFETs in the Chinese market, there had been a trend of high-frequency switching power supplies gradually replacing traditional thyristor-based topological SCR power supplies in high power power supplies market. Through the research on the switching power supply products on the market, we found that the PWM circuit topology of the magnetic components used in the switching power supply combined with the high-frequency transformer can greatly reduce the size and weight of the power supply on the basis of achieving the same output power, and the fast dynamic response feature of switching topology and the more efficient AC/DC conversion give the switching power supplies a faster response speed and higher efficiency. But the disadvantage was also obvious, because the loop matching the switching magnetic components is not completely stable at that time, the occasional loop failure will cause damages to the power supply, which gives people an impression that the reliability of the high-frequency switching power supplies is not as good as the thyristor-based SCR power supplies.
Nevertheless, the team members were still attracted by the superiority of high-frequency switching power supplies topology. From a technical point of view, they believed that high-power switching power supplies using switching PWM technology would become a major trend in the future. Therefore, in the period from 2009 to 2014, they promoted the innovation on the basis of the original power supply topology and launched an improved switching power supply (within 10KW) with hard-switching conversion technology. However, as the power increased, the problem began to appear continuously, the instability of the power supply caused SHEKONIC to have an aversion to the switching power supplies and finally abandon the development plan, which also led to the final departure of the team.
Enter the switching power supply market
At the beginning, due to the market's unrecognition of the reliability of switching power supplies, the company mainly relied on small-volume SCR power supplies, linear power supplies, and special customized power supplies contracts as its main source of income. Although the original intention of establishing the company was not the case, after 7 months of market honing and continuous technological innovation, in February 2016, the company launched the first switching power supply of TSP series with the power range 1KW ~ 50KW, using hard switching topology, although the power characteristics were not good enough, but the reliability problem is basically solved, and started in order to replace the original power-frequency topology power supplies with switching mode DC power supplies in small batches.
The role of emerging applications
Although the TSP series power supplies has initially realized the company's original intention for high-power switching power supplies, the TSP series itself was limited by the defects of its hard switching topology and the product market positioning was ambiguous. This series of power supplies was still limited to small-volume orders, especially with customized orders in sales, these deals could not provide enough revenue for the company's long-term development. The company realized that positioning industry applications, power supply stereotypes, and modular design are imperative. It coincided with the end of 2016. Many encounters guided us to two worthwhile applications that the company should pay attention to: EV motor testing and high-voltage capacitor charging, the customized TSP series and linear high-voltage power supply originally used cannot meet the continuous upgrading needs of customers from these two industries in terms of performance and size. We felt that the original hard switching design should be overturned, and breakthroughs have been made in soft switching topology and high-voltage series resonance topology.
Finally, in 2017, the MTP series high-power DC power matching motor test application with overload operation capability was launched; CCP1000 series high voltage power module based on series resonance and CCP series and CCPS series high-voltage power supplies based on the PWM soft switching topology matching high-voltage capacitor charging applications followed later in 2018. On this basis, by the end of 2018, HP series and HPS series high voltage power supplies matching electron guns and electron beams application that can achieve high-power output were launched. These technical innovations gradually expanded the company's power supply product line and power supplies family.
And with the entry into industry applications, system integration, intelligent test system requirements were also put forward, the demand for built-in computer interfaces and analog PLC control interfaces continued to appear. The company gradually introduced the RS interface based on the MODBUS-RTU protocol to all power supplies, and DB9 / DB15 / DB25 industrial PLC interfaces specially to the high-voltage power supplies to meet customers' needs.
Programmable power supply
The company began its initial attempts at programmable power supplies in 2019. The goal is to realize the low-power programmable power supplies (3KW ~ 10KW). And high-power output can be achieved by multiple-unit connected in series or parallel to realize the scalability of the power system. The CSP series programmable power supplies were launched in early 2020. The first generation gave three output power rating of 3KW / 6KW / 10KW with Max. output voltage to 1000Vdc, the optimized second-generation improved the appearance of the HMI interface and came out in March 2021. The third-generation preliminary naming MATRIX series is already in the research and development stage, and it is expected to realize the features of bidirectional output, AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC programmable will be realized in this generation.
